Qiddiya City

Theme-park thrills below the Tuwaiq cliffs

Qiddiya City is one of Saudi Arabia’s giga-projects: an entertainment, sports and culture destination being built at the foot and on the rim of the Tuwaiq cliffs, about 40–45 kilometres south-west of central Riyadh. Plans include theme parks, a motorsport circuit, stadiums and golf courses. It is opening in stages over many years.

The first headline attraction, Six Flags Qiddiya City, opened at the end of 2025. Its themed lands hold more than two dozen rides, led by Falcons Flight, a roller coaster built to break world records for height, speed and length. Beside it, the Aquarabia water park is the second attraction to come on line. Opening days, hours and the list of operating rides are still settling down, so plan with current information.

Top things to do at Qiddiya City

Ride the coasters at Six Flags

The park is aimed squarely at thrill-seekers, with several large coasters alongside family rides and shows. Height restrictions apply on the biggest attractions, and individual rides can close in high wind or for maintenance.

Cool off at Aquarabia

The water park has slides, wave pools and rivers. It makes most sense in the warmer months — check that it is open on your dates.

Take in the setting

The site sits directly beneath the escarpment where the Makkah highway descends from the plateau, one of the most striking stretches of scenery near the city. The old Camel Trail, a historic caravan path that zigzags up the cliffs, is in the same area and is a popular short hike in winter.

How to get to Qiddiya City

  • By car or taxi: around 40–50 minutes from central Riyadh via the Makkah road. Ride-hailing works for the outbound trip; pre-arrange the return or expect a wait.
  • With transfers: some tickets are sold with return transport from Riyadh — see the options on the tours page.
  • Public transport: check whether shuttle or bus services are currently running; they have been evolving since the opening.

Insider tips

  • Buy dated tickets online in advance and check the park calendar. Operating days have not always been daily.
  • Bring sun protection — much of the park is outdoors.
  • Summer afternoons are extremely hot; parks in the region often shift to evening hours in the hottest months.
  • Normal Riyadh dress norms apply in the theme park; the water park has its own swimwear rules, which you should read before you go.
