We rank these on four things: how much of the outing is spent actually doing the thing rather than sitting in a vehicle, the quality of the guiding, the value for money, and what real travellers say afterwards. Ratings and review counts come straight from GetYourGuide and are checked regularly.
We earn a commission if you book through the links below, at no cost to you — which is why the ranking is what it is rather than what a supplier would like it to be. The cheapest tours on this page are near the top of it.

How to choose
If you book only one thing, make it the Edge of the World. The difference between the shared tours is smaller than the difference between going and not going; choose on departure time, group size and whether you want dinner. If the desert track sounds too rough — it is a genuinely bumpy hour each way — the Red Sand Dunes give you desert colour with a smooth road and more to do.
In the city, a walking tour of old Riyadh on your first evening pays off for the rest of the trip: you learn the 1902 story, how the souq works and how to drink Saudi coffee. Diriyah you can visit independently, but it is one of those places where a guide doubles what you take away.
