About RiyadhTravel.com

An independent guide to Saudi Arabia’s capital and the desert around it.

RiyadhTravel.com exists because Riyadh has become one of the most interesting new destinations in the world faster than the guidebooks could keep up. It is an independent travel guide covering the city and the cliffs, dunes and heritage villages within reach of it — written to be genuinely useful before you go and while you are there.

What we cover

  • How to get to Riyadh, how the visa works and how to get around by metro, app and car.
  • Which tours are worth booking, ranked honestly and updated as ratings change.
  • What to see — from Diriyah and Masmak Fortress to the Edge of the World and Ushaiqer.
  • Where to stay, district by district.
  • When to come, and what visitors need to know about dress, customs and daily life.

How we research

We work from official sources, operators’ published information, verified traveller reviews and reports from people on the ground. Riyadh is changing unusually quickly: attractions open, close for redevelopment and reopen; ticketing systems and opening hours shift from season to season. Where a detail is likely to change, we say so and tell you where to check, rather than printing a figure that may be out of date by the time you read it.

We keep a neutral, practical tone. This is a travel guide: it describes what a visitor will find and how to make the most of it.

How the site is funded

RiyadhTravel.com is free to read and carries no advertising. It is funded by affiliate commissions from GetYourGuide (tours and tickets) and Trip.com (accommodation). If you book through one of our links we may earn a small commission; you pay the same price. Nobody can pay to be included or ranked. The full details are in our affiliate disclosure.

Plan your days in Riyadh

Mud-brick palaces, glass towers and a cliff at the edge of the desert

Riyadh pairs the birthplace of the Saudi state with one of the great desert viewpoints of Arabia. Compare city tours, Diriyah visits and 4x4 desert trips and book in a couple of taps.
